OWEN COYLE WILL be been appointed manager at English Championship side Wigan Athletic.
Club owner Dave Whelan confirmed that he will bring in the 46-year-old former Bolton Wanderers boss on a one-year rolling contract and offered lucrative bonuses to get the club back to the English Premier League.
“Out of all the candidates who applied I just thought he was the best, he took Burnley to the Premier League,” he told Sky Sports News. ”If anybody can get us back in the Premier League Owen Coyle can.”
Wigan were relegated from the top flight last season, despite winning the FA Cup, and had been looking for a candidate for the vacant manager’s position following the departure of Roberto Martinez.
Martinez has taken over from David Moyes at Everton, after the latter’s move to succeed Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
