10. Violence in Warsaw.

Unfortunately, news of the European Championships has flooded away from the sports page for all the wrong reasons. We had brief flashes elsewhere, but the worst violence came on Tuesday night in Warsaw; prior to the clash between Russia and Poland.

9. Actual football.

Since the ugly scenes off the pitch we’ve been treated to some beautiful football on it, not least this (almost, but not quite) Bergkamp-esque finish last night from Mario Gomez.

Excuse the video quality, UEFA are in the dark ages when it comes to releasing on-line content so some fine chap has taped it off tele.

Is Julian Savea about to become Messi’s (massive) rugby equivalent. He was being compared to Jonah Lomu long before he squeezed into his first All Black shirt and he only went and ground a hat-trick on his debut.

5. Roland Garros.

Maria Sharapova and Rafa Nadal both made history at the French Open this week. So, we tossed a coin and decided.. we’d go for a video of the lovely Ms Sharapova.
