Alf Stewart congratulates Cork City on being the best team home and away

The soap star sent congratulations to the SSE Airtricity League winners.

AFTER CORK CITY won their first SSE Airtricity title in 12 years last night, they were rightly lauded with plaudits from fans around Ireland.

However, few congratulations are as unexpected as the one that came all the way from Summer Bay as Alf Stewart — or Ray Meagher as he’s known in real life — sent his best wishes to John Caulfield’s men.

“Congratulations to all at Cork City,” he said.

“Well done guys.

Don’t worry about the last 10 or 12 years – anyone can have a quiet decade. But now, you’re the champions.

“Good on ya!”
