Carl Frampton may be set to split from Barry McGuigan - reports

The 30-year-old recently resigned as a director of Cyclone Promotions.

CARL FRAMPTON COULD be set to part ways with manager Barry McGuigan, according to reports.

BBC Northern Ireland have suggested that the relationship between the pair has become increasingly strained in recent times.

Frampton’s most recent scheduled fight, for which he was one pound overweight, was called off as prospective opponent Andres Gutierrez injured himself after slipping in the shower.

The 30-year-old resigned as a director of Cyclone Promotions and reports indicate Frampton is expected to leave the organisation.

McGuigan has been a close ally of Frampton ever since the latter went pro in 2009.

In recent years, McGuigan’s family have all been heavily involved in Cyclone Promotions, while the former world featherweight champion’s son Shane works as Frampton’s trainer.

McGuigan and Frampton have enjoyed a hugely successful working relationship together. The Belfast boxer became Northern Ireland’s first-ever two-weight champion by beating Leo Santa Cruz last year, but lost the title after suffering defeat against the same man back in January.
