THIS DOESN’T MAKE for great reading if you’re a young prospect hoping to come through Chelsea’s ranks and break into the first team.
In recent years, the Premier League champions have introduced a recruitment policy of hoovering up talent from around the world. However, as squads can only contain 25 players, many of them are subsequently sent straight back out on loan. Often those from non-EU countries are also farmed out in order to get around work permit issues.
At present, Chelsea have 33 players loaned out to 26 clubs across ten countries. While ten have remained in English football, Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem (5) are the biggest beneficiaries while Belgian outfit Sint-Truidense VV have three.
