LIMERICK HURLING LEGENDS Ciaran Carey and Mark Foley lost out against their native county in their opening game in charge of Kerry today at the Gaelic Grounds.

In their first game in the Munster senior hurling league, new Kingdom boss Carey and his coach Foley saw their team fell short.

A first-half goal by David Reidy helped Limerick lead 1-14 to 0-5 at the interval while Mikey Ryan bagged another Limerick goal in the second-half.

Shane Nolan struck a series of points to help Kerry trim the deficit on the scoreboard in the closing stages.

Carey and Foley’s former teammate TJ Ryan handed starting places in his Limerick side to a bunch of players who won All-Ireland U21 medals with the county last September.

Kerry host Cork next Sunday in Killarney while Limerick will travel to Carriganore to face Waterford.
