'No offers will be considered' say FSG but club confirm Coutinho transfer request

The Liverpool owners want to put an end to transfer speculation..

Updated at 3.11pm

LIVERPOOL OWNERS FSG have issued a hands-off warning to Barcelona over Philippe Coutinho but the player has responded by handing in a transfer request.

Despite rumours of a €100 million offer from the Catalan club this week, Liverpool appeared to clarify the situation earlier today when they released this statement on the club’s official website today, FSG say:

“We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.

The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”

However, multiple reports by sources close to the club are emerging this afternoon that the player has handed in a transfer request and wants to leave Liverpool.

The Brazilian submitted the formal request by email at around 1pm today.
