JAMES MCCLEAN REALLY doesn’t do himself any favours.
Last week, the Ireland international grabbed headlines by labelling Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as ‘a bit of an idiot.’
McClean’s ill-advised comments came after the Reds boss raced to celebrate his side’s late equaliser rather than shaking Tony Pulis’ hand.
And perhaps he just shouldn’t have opened his mouth – because McClean has this afternoon let his side down with a mindless and, dare we say it, idiotic challenge on Bournemouth’s Adam Smith.
McClean went in recklessly late on Smith, catching him half-way up the leg, leaving referee Mike Dean with little choice but to brandish red.
Before today, McClean had established himself as a regular in the Baggies side and this month scored his first Premier League goal for the club in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham.
Now, however, he’ll have a bit of time off over Christmas.
Bournemouth took full advantage as Charlie Daniels’ late penalty secured a third successive win for Eddie Howe’s side.
Smith had earlier given the visitors the lead at the Hawthorns but Gareth McAuley equalised for the Baggies, who went onto finish the game with nine men after Salomon Rondon was dismissed late on.
