Leitrim U21 player 'doing well' after defibrillator drama

Alan McTague is being kept in hospital overnight for tests, according to a Leitrim GAA spokesman.

LEITRIM U21 footballer Alan McTague is recovering in a Galway hospital after he required the use of a defibrillator during a Hastings Cup Shield semi-final in Rathcline, Co Longford.

McTague, a midfielder from Allen Gaels, is being kept in hospital overnight for tests but “everything is fine”, a Leitrim GAA spokesman told The42.

Leitrim were playing Roscommon in the competition and the match was abandoned after McTague collapsed and was attended to.

McTague had “no issues” going into the game and is being detained for tests in hospital, the spokesman added.
