Former Limerick boss confirmed as Tipperary's new senior football manager

The appointment of Liam Kearns has been ratified.

LIAM KEARNS WILL take charge of the Tipperary senior footballers in 2016.

As expected, his appointment was ratified at last night’s Tipperary Football County Board meeting. Kearns, a native of Kerry, will succeed Peter Creedon.

Kearns will be assisted by Tommy Toomey, who’ll continue in his role as Tipp’s U21 manager. Paul Fitzgerald and Shane Stapleton will be Kearns’ other selectors.

The 53-year-old brought Limerick to the Munster final in both 2003 and ’04, having previously guided the county’s U21 team to an All-Ireland decider in 2000.

Kearns, who’ll be aiming to build on Tipperary’s recent underage success, also managed Laois between 2006 and ’08, and most recently he was involved with UL and Roscommon.
