Mesut Özil pulls the strings for Arsenal while QPR move out of the bottom three

There was also a valuable win for Hull City that put Aston Villa into the relegation zone.

MESUT ÖZIL’S SCINTILLATING form since returning from injury continued tonight as he was the chief creator for both Arsenal goals in their 2-1 win at the Emirates.

The damage was done in the first half as the home side struck twice in a 14 minute spell. Özil floated a nice corner into the box after 27 minutes that was calmly met by the foot of defender Laurent Koscielny who was able to steer the ball into the corner.

And on 41 minutes Arsenal had their second when Mark Schwarzer parried the German’s drive into the path of Theo Walacott who rifled the ball into the corner.

Leicester pulled one back through Andrej Kramaric’s low drive on 61 minutes but the home side held on to banish some of the memories of last Saturday’s defeat to Spurs.

Also, QPR moved out of the bottom three with a 2-0 win away to Sunderland. The Londoners only just lost manager Harry Redknapp but they put in one of their best performances of the season to leave the Stadium of Light with three points.

Leroy Fer headed the visitors in front after 17 minutes and Bobby Zamora doubled their advantage in first half injury time.

Elsewhere, it was two good performances in a row for Hull as they followed their point at the Ethiad with a 2-0 home win against Aston Villa. It was QPR’s first away win of the season.

Nikita Jelavic opened the scoring after midway through the first half while Dame N’Doye sealed the game with his side’s second after 74 minutes. Hull and QPR’s wins mean that Paul Lambert’s men slide into the relegation zone.
