BAKING YOUR OWN energy bars is a great way to save money as well as actually knowing what’s going into your body.
At upwards of €2.50 a pop for some bars on the market they’re certainly not cheap.
However, with these ingredients we estimate you can have a week’s supply for a tenner or so, assuming you don’t eat six a day!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of oats
- 1 cup almonds
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- Stir all the ingredients together until thoroughly mixed.
- Cover and put in the fridge for an hour.
- Now, using whatever kitchen utensil is handiest, shape the mixture into whatever size you want.
- Put back in the fridge and they’ll be good to go by morning.
- Alternatively, make them into peanut balls as they might hold together slightly better.
