ONE OF THE biggest names in women’s football – US star Alex Morgan – was asked to leave a Disney World restaurant on Sunday night after police were called to intervene in a drunken dispute.
Morgan, who plays her club football with Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), was with a group of friends – including Major League Soccer players Giles Barnes and Donny Toia – when the bizarre incident occurred.
According to reports, Barnes – who, like Toia, is currently with Orlando SC, and who previously played in the Premier League with Derby and West Brom, cut in front of another patron and a verbal disagreement ensued.
The police arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and escorted Morgan’s group off the premises and away from the park.
According to the Orlando Sentinel newspaper, the official incident report says Morgan’s group were ‘impaired and verbally aggressive’.
Morgan is also referenced in the report as having made a ‘loud verbal statement’ that she knows the Orlando SWAT team.
One of the best-known American athletes, the 28-year-old Morgan is a World Cup winner and Olympic gold-medalist with her country while a recent loan spell with Lyon in France resulted in her picking up the 2017 Champions League title too.
She is expected to feature for the Pride in their championship semi-final against Portland on Saturday.
