Alexis Sanchez's goal has everyone debating what is and isn't a handball

Does anybody even know anymore?

ALEXIS SANCHEZ’S RIGHT hand gave Arsenal a 1-0 lead against Hull in this afternoon’s lunchtime kick off — but should it have counted?

As the ball ricocheted around in front of the Hull goal, keeper Eldin Jakupovic got an outstretched foot on Sanchez’s goalbound effort only to see it deflect upwards and off Sanchez’s hand before bouncing into the net.

The officials allowed the goal to stand and, as a man who knows a thing or two about handballs himself said, that’s all that really matters.

“Is it deliberate? “No,” Thierry Henry said on Sky Sports at half time.

It’s a goal but I could have understood if it was disallowed.

Hull’s Curtis Davies, also in the Sky studio, took a different view of proceedings.

“We’re disappointed obviously,” he said.

“If it goes in against you, you’re devastated. But if it happens down the other end, and it happens to Niasse, and comes off his hand and goes in, I’m celebrating like no-one else.

“It’s hard to take. The linesman was in a good position to see that.”
