Business as usual for Bolt in Oslo

WATCH: Bolt cruises to victory in the 200m at last night’s Diamond League meet in Norway.

IF LAST NIGHT’S performance in Oslo was the work of an out-of-form Usain Bolt, it is scary to consider how good the 24-year-old might be when he gets back to his best.

Racing over 200m for the first time in 13 months, Bolt delighted the crowd who had turned out to see him at the Bislett Diamond League meet, cruising to victory in 19.86 seconds – the fastest time recorded over the distance this year.

Jaysuma Saidy Ndure of Norway took the silver with a time of 20.43, while Jamaica’s Mario Forsythe rounded out the top three with a time of 20.49.

With three wins from three races this season, the triple world record holder appears to be making good progress as he recovers from the back and Achilles’ problems which sidelined him for part of last season.

“I was never out of business,” Bolt beamed afterwards, striking his characteristic victory pose on the Bislett podium. “I think business was just slow.”

World champion Caster Semenya was also pleased with her performance in last night’s women’s 800m, posting a seasonal best of 1:58.61 despite finishing in third place behind Halima Hachlaf of Morocco and Russia’s Mariya Savinova.

“The Diamond League is not in my mind now,” Semeya told reporters afterwards. “I’m just trying to train for the world champs so I’m not worried about the Diamond League, I’m just going to try and enjoy my races and go home.”
