CARL FRAMPTON RUBBER-STAMPED his world title credentials by knocking out Jeremy Parodi in Belfast tonight.
Roared on by a sold-out Odyssey Arena, Frampton landed a crunching body shot to end the fight with a second remaining in the sixth round.
In what was billed by many as world title shot eliminator, Frampton comfortably defended his IBF and EBU Intercontinental titles and handed the Frenchman the first stoppage and just the second defeat of his professional career.
“I’ve a message for every super-bantamweight in the world,” the 26-year-old declared afterwards. “I’m coming for you.
I’m ready for anyone now, Scott Quigg, Kiko Martinez. I’m the hardest punching super-bantamweight in the world and I can take a good shot too.
Martinez, the current IBF champion, faces Jeffrey Mathebula in a mandatory defence on 21 December and Frampton’s manager Barry McGuigan said that a shot against the winner of that fight is now the “ideal scenario.”
“We are going to offer the winner of that fight a lot of money, whether it’s Mathebula or Martinez, we will offer them a lot of money because we want to bring this fight back to Belfast.
“This is where it has to happen.”
