Cavan players urge manager Andrews to quit

The players’ suggestions will reportedly be considered at a county board meeting on Thursday.

CAVAN FOOTBALLERS HAVE asked manager Val Andrews to quit following a disappointing league campaign in which they narrowly missed out on relegation t0 Division 4.

BBC Sport reports that Cavan players attended a meeting on Tuesday in which they decided that Andrews’ position as manager had become untenable.

The players’ suggestions for change will now be considered at a county board meeting this Thursday.

According to one source, players voted 33-3 in favour of the management stepping down.

The Dublin-born manager has made some controversial during his tenure in charge of the county, dropping star players such as Seanie Johnston and Micheal Lyng from the panel.

Cavan were only saved from relegation on Sunday, as a result of Tipperary beating Offaly.
