2009 county senior football champions Ballyboden St Enda’s booked their spot in the fourth round of this year’s Dublin SFC with a narrow 1-14 to 3-7 victory over Naomh Mearnóg yesterday. Ballyboden St Enda’s trailed to the Portmarmock based club by 2-5 to 1-6 at half-time but with Dublin senior Michael Darragh MacAuley on board, they recovered to claim a success in the second-half.

Elsewhere Thomas Davis defeated Skerries Harps by 1-15 to 2-7 after enjoying a slender 0-6 to 0-5 advantage at the break. St Pat’s (Palmerstown) got the better of St Mary’s (Saggart) by 0-13 to 0-10 after enjoying an 0-8 to 0-3 lead at the interval.

There were three games down for decision on Friday night with Erins Isle, Parnells and St Maur’s all advancing. Erins Isle defeated St Peregrine’s by 0-20 to 0-9 after leading by 0-11 to 0-5 at the interval. Parnells were also in command in their clash against Whitehall Colmcilles in Parnell Park as they established an 0-11 to 0-4 half-time lead before eventually triumphing by 0-17 to 0-7. Finally St Maur’s enjoyed a 6-11 to 0-15 win over Trinity Gaels at St Margaret’s, having lead 3-2 to 0-9 at the break.

St Sylvester’s booked their place in the fourth round with a 5-12 to 0-5 victory over Raheny on Thursday night in Parnell Park. Nigel Dunne bagged a hat-trick while Conor Daly raised two green flags for the Malahide based club. Also on Thursday night, St Judes were 0-13 to 0-10 victors over Lucan Sarsfields in Newcastle with the McManamon brothers in inspirational form. There will now be sixteen clubs in the fourth round draw.

Castletown will meet St Anne’s in the final of this year’s Wexford senior football championship after both prevailed in their semi-final encounters in a double-header at Wexford Park yesterday afternoon. In the first game St Anne’s proved far too strong for Sarsfields as they enjoyed a comfortable 2-12 to 0-7 success. St Anne’s will now contest their first final since 2009, when they lost to Horeswood, and will be bidding to win their first crown since 2001 when they completed back to back successes.

Their final opponents Castletown have more recent experience at this stage after losing out in last year’s decider against Horeswood and having won the championship in 2010 against Kilanerin. They triumphed against St Martin’s by 3-12 to 2-9 at the semi-final stage yesterday.
