Louth SFC
The first semi-final will see Cooley Kickhams meet St Patrick’s in Dowdallshill this evening at 6pm. St Patrick’s are the reigning champions while Cooley Kickhams have lost three of the last five deciders.
The second semi-final will feature Newtown Blues against Dreadnots tomorrow evening in Cluskey Park at 6pm. Newtown Blues, the beaten finalists last year, meet a Dreadnots team who got the better of St Mary’s in the quarter-final replay this season.
Westmeath SFC
Garrycastle, this year’s beaten finalists in the All-Ireland club SFC, face the latest hurdle in their bid to land a fourth consecutive Westmeath senior football title tomorrow afternoon in Cusack Park, Mullingar at 2.30pm when they face a semi-final clash against Maryland. Garrycastle, with star forward Dessie Dolan having recently returned from the USA and former Galway star Paul Clancy at the helm, will be tipped to reach their ninth final in twelve years.
The other semi-final, at 4pm at the same venue, will be a local derby between Mullingar Shamrocks and St Loman’s (Mullingar). Mullingar Shamrocks lost the 2011 final to Garrycastle while St Loman’s lost the 2009 decider to Garrycastle.
Wexford SFC
The finalists in Wexford will be determined today with a semi-final double-header on in Wexford Park. First up is the meeting of St Anne’s (Rathangan) and Sarsfields at 4.30pm. St Anne’s last contested the final in 2009 with Redmond Barry their key player while Sarsfields, whose pivotal figure is Lee Chin, played in the decider in 2004.
The second semi-final is the meeting of St Martin’s and Castletown-Liam Mellowes at 6pm at the same venue. St Martin’s have county representatives in Ciaran Lyng and Daithi Waters while Model county netminder Anthony Masterson will be crucial to the Castletown challenge.
Wicklow SFC
The last four stage has been reached in Wicklow with a double-header scheduled for Aughrim tomorrow afternoon. Baltinglass, champions in 2007 and finalists last in 2010, face Bray Emmetts, who were remarkably last in the decider in 1935, at 2.30pm. While Blessington, aiming for a first final appearance since 1988, meet St Patrick’s, who were defeated by Rathnew in the 2008 and 2009 finals, at 4.15pm.
