Barnsley have signed former Ireland U21 Conor Hourihane

Cork midfielder inks a three-year deal at Oakwell.

LEAGUE ONE SIDE Barnsley have signed former Ireland underage international Conor Hourihane from Plymouth Argyle.

Hourihane, who captained Plymouth for the last two seasons, signs a three-year deal at Oakwell.

Tykes boss Danny Wilson said the 23-year-old midfielder is a “terrific signing.”

“He typifies exactly want we want to do in terms of the longevity of the football club and getting in players with a longer term view in mind.

“Having been captain at Plymouth for the last two seasons shows the maturity of the player. From a young age the manager at Plymouth had identified him as a leader, which is a tremendous accolade, and he is exactly the type of player we are looking for at Barnsley.”

Hourihane, from Cork, has been capped by Ireland at U19 and U21 level.
