COREY ANDERSON BLASTED his Kiwi way into the record books today as he struck the fastest ever one-day international century.
The New Zealander needed just 36 balls to reach the milestone during his countryโs 159 run win over the West Indies in Queenstown. Anderson thumped 14 sixes in all and eventually finished on 131 not out.
Playing partner Jesse Ryder hit the sixth fastest century of all time but, reaching three figures after 46 balls, his rate looked pedestrian when compared to Anderson. The previous world record was held by Pakistanโs Shahid Afridi, who recorded a century after facing 37 balls.

New Zealand finished their rain-shortened [21 overs a side] innings on 283-4 while the Windies reply reached a paltry 124-5. The series is now all square at 1-1 with two matches to play.
And our own Kevin O Brien holds the record for the quickest century at the Cricket World Cup!!
I was thinking that Kevin must be in the shake up here, how many balls did he face to get his ton??
He did it in around 60 from memory. Heโs 7th or 8th on the all time fastest list. What is crazy is Jessie Ryder put in what would have been a top 5 fastest 100 in the same game, but Anderson obviously gets the plaudits (and a big IPL contract too!) and keeps him in 6th! NZ will be decent odds for the World Cup in 2015, which funnily enough is in NZ! They are developing some good bowlers, Adam Milne had his home debut yesterday too, and was bowling upper 140km, first real pace since Shane Bond. Consistency is now key for them, but they are usually better at shortened game than test
Queenstown cricket ground is indeed stunning.
God I want to go back to NZ!!!
That is an amazing performance. Love to see Ireland given a crack at those teams.
Especially WI & Bangladesh weโd give both a run for their money
