STATISTICALLY, DERBY COUNTY are the worst team ever to play in the Premier League, managing just 11 points and one win in their 38 games. Aston Villa are running them close with just 16 points so far this season and, having lost all of their last nine games, that dismal tally looks unlikely to increase.
Will their players follow the same path as this group of Derby players?
Roy Carroll
The former Northern Ireland goalkeeper is showing no signs of slowing down despite having somewhat of a nomadic existence with spells in Scotland, Denmark and Greece as well as England.
The 38-year-old is currently with Notts County in League Two with a summer in France on Euro 2016 duty with Northern Ireland to look forward to.
Stephen Bywater
The former England U21 goalkeeper never lived up to his potential after leaving West Ham nearly 10 years ago. Now 34, he has yet to play for League One side Burton Albion since joining in January.
Tyrone Mears
The English-born former Jamaican international joined the Rams initially on loan before making his move from West Ham permanent. Before leaving Derby, Mears had a brief spell on loan at French giants Marseille and has been playing in MLS for Seattle Sounders since 2015.
Andy Todd
Son of the former Derby manager Colin Todd, the defender enjoyed a spell with Perth Glory among other clubs before retiring in 2013.
Todd is now the assistant manager of Newport with Warren Fenney after leaving his position as assistant manager with Linfield.
Andy Griffin
A reliable right-back, Griffin’s performances rarely hit the headlines but he continued to make Premier League appearances for clubs like Stoke City and Reading. Now retired, Griffin has remained out of football’s spotlight.
Claude Davis
The Jamaican international started 19 Premier League games for Derby having joined from Sheffield United in 2007. Davis finished his career with spells at Crystal Palace, Crawley Town and Rotherham United before retiring in 2014.
Darren Moore
A commanding centre-back, Moore was one of the few players that came out of the season with any credit. Left in 2008 to join Barnsley before moving on to Burton Albion, and he is now a member of the PFA committee.
Dean Leacock
Leacock joined the Rams in 2006 from Fulham. The former England underage international never returned to the big time since relegation with spells at Leyton Orient, Notts County and Crawley Town.
Jay McEveley
The former Scotland international showed great promise in his early career with Blackburn Rovers but failed to maintain his early form in the following years.
Now captain of Sheffield United, who have an outside chance of reaching the League One play-offs.
David Jones
The former Manchester United trainee was never the most gifted of footballers, but his no-nonsense, tough-tackling approach in midfield has allowed him to continue his career in professional football. Now 31, Jones is looking for a return to the Premier League next season with Burnley, who he has been with since 2013.
Matt Oakley
Oakley played the majority of his career with Southampton before joining Derby for their successful promotion campaign in 2006. A dependable midfielder, he is still playing at 38 with Exeter City in League Two.
Robbie Savage
The former Wales international was never shy from sharing his opinion on the pitch and that has continued off it now that he has retired, enjoying a successful media career with both BBC and BT Sport.
Craig Fagan
Played 39 games in his only season for Derby. Fagan played most of his football in England’s lower leagues before ending his career in 2015 in Brunei.
Eddie Lewis
The former American international enjoyed a relatively successful career in England after joining Fulham from San Jose Clash in 2000. Named Player of the Year at Leeds in 2007, Lewis ended his career with LA Galaxy in 2010.
Stephen Pearson
A former Scottish Young Player of the Year, Pearson won all there was to win with Celtic in Scotland before joining Derby. After an unsuccessful period in England, the midfielder is now back at Motherwell where he started his career.
Hossam Ghaly
The Egyptian joined Derby on loan from Spurs midway through the campaign but failed to inspire the Rams to safety. Ghaly is still active and plays for Al-Ahly in Egypt.
Giles Barnes
Named Derby’s Young Player of the Year in the season they got promoted, the tricky winger’s career never took off from there in England.
Now 27, he is enjoying some fine form Stateside and is now the captain of Houston Dynamo in MLS.
Steve Howard
Howard was a tall, powerful striker but left Derby during the season for Leicester City after only scoring one league goal in the campaign. Spent time with Hartlepool United and Sheffield Wednesday before retiring in 2013.
Emanuel Villa
The Argentine was only at Derby County for one season, and is now with Querétaro in Mexico.
Robbie Earnshaw
The eternal pub quiz answer to the question ‘Who has scored a hat-trick in England’s top four divisions, the FA Cup and League Cup as well as in an international match?’ Now retired having ended his career in MLS with Chicago Fire and Vancouver Whitecaps.
Kenny Miller
Miller was Derby’s top scorer in the 2007-08 season with six goals having joined from Celtic. Now back with Rangers in the Scottish Championship after spells with Bursaspor and Vancouver Whitecaps.
