Derrytresk to appeal against CCCC sanction

The Junior Ulster club champions will not accept the hefty fine and suspensions handed down yesterday.

TYRONE CLUB, DERRYTRESK, have this evening confirmed their intention to appeal the fines handed down by the GAA.

Yesterday it emerged that both clubs involved in the January brawl, which marred the Junior Club All-Ireland semi-final in Portlaoise, would be fined by the Central Competition Controls Committee (CCCC).

Derrytresk were hit with the greater fine for their part in the row. €5,000 was the price asked of the Ulster club, while Kerry’s Dromid Pearses were also fined, €2,000.

In addition to the monetary punishment, eight players were issued bans, four of whom had been in the starting line-up.

In a familiar move within the association, Derrytresk have tonight verified that they will appeal against the severity of the sanction.

The Ulster Herald report that Stewartstown solicitor and former Tyrone county player, Feargal Logan, has been enlisted to bring the appeal to the CCCC.
