DILLON DANIS HAS been drafted into Conor McGregor’s camp to help the UFC featherweight champion to sharpen his grappling.
However, the elite Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner expects McGregor to use his impressive striking to steer him towards a historic win this weekend at UFC 205.
If McGregor overcomes UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, he’ll become the first fighter in history to hold two UFC belts simultaneously.
Last December, McGregor only needed 13 seconds to win the UFC featherweight belt at the expense of defending champion Jose Aldo.
But McGregor’s quickest knockout came earlier in his career. Danis, a New Jersey native who became part of McGregor’s team prior to his rematch victory over Nate Diaz, believes something similar is possible this weekend.
“I feel it will be a knockout, late in the first [round] or early second — or it could be a quick one. It could be quicker than Jose Aldo, maybe three seconds,” Danis told Submission Radio.
“He has a three-second knockout so it could be really quick. Eddie just charges in, Conor is too precise, he’s going to pick him apart. He’s going to knock him out, I feel.”
McGregor and Alvarez will address the media this afternoon at a press conference at Madison Square Garden, before weighing in tomorrow for their 155lbs bout.
