FORMER TIPPERARY COACH Tommy Dunne will coach Dublin’s hurlers in conjunction with Ger Cunningham, it has been announced.

Dunne was sporadically involved with the Dublin side under Anthony Daly, and he has also assisted Na Piarsaigh, who won the Limerick and Munster hurling titles last year.

The Toomevara native, best known for captaining Tipperary to win the 2001 All Ireland, also coached Tipp seniors in 2011 and 2012 alongside Declan Ryan.

Selector Shay Boland — another new member of the coaching staff announced earlier today — managed the Dublin minor teams that lost the 2011 and 2012 All Ireland finals.

Former Kilmacud Crokes boss Gearóid Ó’Riain was also named as part of the backroom team.
