THE SQUADS HAVE been announced for this weekend’s football interprovincial series at Croke Park.
Four provincial squads will be in action as seven core enhancements put forward by the Football Review Committee are trialed ahead of a special congress at the end of November.
Dublin’s nine-time All-Ireland winners James McCarthy and Stephen Cluxton will both be involved in a Leinster squad which sees 11 counties represented.
Current All-Ireland champions Armagh have a strong representation in the Ulster selection, with Paddy Burns, Oisín Conaty, Aidan Forker and Rian and Oisín O’Neill all included.
Mayo’s Aidan O’Shea and Galway’s Cillian McDaid are in the Connacht squad, which also includes players from London and New York.
Kerry duo Tadhg Morley and Diarmuid O’Connor are among five Kerry players named in the Munster squad.
The first game of the weekend sees Connacht play Leinster at 6pm on Friday evening, before Ulster take on Munster at 8pm.
The two beaten teams will then be back out for Saturday’s opening match at 5.30pm, before Friday’s two winners go head-t-head at 7.30pm.
Friday’s games will be live on TG4 while the Saturday games will be shown on RTÉ.

One of the most boring sports to watch at the moment…. perhaps new rules might open it up a bit.
@Jp Cleary: Is that why it still draws the biggest crowds when it comes to field sports in this country?
@Richard Ford: It’s because Gaelic Football supporters will always turn out to watch their local parish/county, no matter what happens to the game itself.
Not a single Kilkenny player ffs
Donegal would seem a bit hard done by looking at the Ulster squad.
@Ray Ridge: gallen was named in the squad earlier in the week but no sign of him now, jimmy must have been on t blower, id say 60% of t donegal tean didnt even play championship for their clubs this year.
Why is Munster so weak?
@James Murphy: Probably because outside of Kerry, hurling is the dominant code in Munster.
@James Murphy: because munster is weak
@James Murphy:
Club football finals
Commercials v loughmore
Following week
Eire og v kib
Dingle v Dr crokes
Nemo rangers v castlehaven
@James Murphy: because footballs a game for bad hurlers.
@brian o’leary: haha the snobs are out boys.
@James Murphy: why isn’t there a hurling railway cup?
@Joe O’Regan: hurling doesn’t need changing it’s at its peak.
@James Murphy: how many teams out of 32 can win it again….i like hurling but it needs to grow
@Kevin Bury: not sure it does its incredible to watch and sure the same amount can win it in the football
@brian o’leary: . Yawn!! The hurling snobs were coming out with that one forty years ago.
Ulster to walk it
I know club championship games are on but connacht including 3 Mayo guys that don’t even make starting team screams a weak squad
