Hawkeye used for the first time in Croke Park for Kildare-Offaly game

The technology was used following a contentious strike by Offaly’s Peter Cunningham.

THE MUCH TALKED-ABOUT new Hawkeye system was used successfully for the first time during the Kildare-Offaly game in Croke Park today.

The historic moment took place following a contentious Peter Cunningham attempt in the second-half of the game.

Cunningham, who came on as a substitute for the Faithful, tried a left-footed shot that prompted referee Rory Hickey of Clare to call for the use of the score detection technology to adjudicate on the score.

The effort was subsequently adjudged to have gone wide upon further examination.
