Injury update: Quartet expected to retain starting place

Rob Kearney, Gordon D’Arcy, Cian Healy and Sean O’Brien are all expected to recover from the injuries sustained against Italy.

FOUR OF DECLAN Kidney’s starting line up for the 42-10 win over Italy were suffering knocks after the game.

However, none of the injuries are thought to be significant enough to rule the foursome out of this Saturday’s rescheduled trip to Paris.

Gordon D’Arcy left the field after 70 minutes with a shoulder injury and was replaced by Ronan O’Gara.

The IRFU managemnet last night stated he showed ‘no ill-effects’ and will play a full part when training resumes today.

The statement also says that Cian Healy will take part in a ‘modified’ training program this week after a blow to the jaw.

Temple

At the time it had appeared that the prop was temporarily knocked out after Andrea Masi’s knee connected with his temple as healy went in to tackle the fullback. Healy underwent a short bout of treatment and went directly into the next scrum.

Rob Kearney played a full 80 minutes against the Azzuri, but reported some tightness in his groin. A scan yesterday revealed no significant damage.

Lastly, Sean O’Brien, was withdrawn from the action due to an ankle knock. The Leinster back row was replaced on the open side by Peter O’Mahony who greatly impressed, in what has been a problem position, on his debut.

Ireland head for Paris this weekend on the second gruelling leg of international test matches in four consecutive weeks. Kidney (injury permitting) is expected to name the same side which won at the Aviva Stadium.
