TOULON BACK James O’Connor has moved to further ease concerns over his health following false reports he suffered a heart attack last weekend.
Reports in the French media suggested the Australia international had fallen seriously ill as Toulon returned from their Top 14 win at Oyonnax last Sunday.
However, Toulon released a statement saying O’Connor was a “victim of discomfort of undetermined origin” and that he had passed a series of tests and medical examinations. And O’Connor has since taken to Twitter to allay fears over his condition, revealing his discomfort was a result of hypoglycemia – a lack of glucose in the bloodstream – and fatigue.
However, he will be kept on the sidelines for two weeks to rest. In addition to missing this weekend’s clash with Brive, O’Connor will be unavailable for the games with La Rochelle and Grenoble.
