MOST IRISH RUGBY supporters will recall Donncha O’Callaghan’s wish to be lifted in a lineout for Munster despite his obvious lack of shorts. The lock took his place in the line, togged out in red underpants, and looked bemused when play was stopped to locate fresh shorts.
There was no stopping South African flanker Jean Deysel at the weekend as his Sharks side tussled with the Auckland Blues.
The Springbok international had his jersey ripped off in a ruck but, with no break in play forthcoming, carried on for two minutes until there was a stoppage. It was exactly that type of spirit that inspired his side to a 22-20 win over John Kirwan’s team from New Zealand.
