Jordan named in Tyrone squad to face Meath

Micky Harte moves to definitively dismiss rumours that the Moy clubman has hung up his boots.

FOR A PLAYER who was reported to have retired earlier this week, Philip Jordan seems to be quite involved with the Tyrone senior football panel ahead of this weekend’s Division Two finale against Meath.

The four-time All-Star made his seasonal comeback following hip surgery as a substitute in the Northerners’ win over Kildare last Sunday.

However, earlier this week, rumours started to emerge suggesting that Jordan had decided to call time on his inter-county career.

Though Mickey Harte strongly denied that this was the case, further confusion was generated when a senior county official indicated that the 30-year-old had decided to concentrate on club football with Moy for the immediate future.

However, the Tyrone manager has including Jordan as part of an unchanged panel for this weekend’s trip to Pairc Tailteann, naming the wing-back among the substitutes for Sunday’s must-win game.

Tyrone go into the game two points adrift of Donegal at the top of Division Two, knowing that a win would give them every chance of making the divisional final while almost certainly consigning Meath to play Division Three football next season.
