Kenny brings in first new faces

Stephen Kenny’s Dundalk have signed their first four players for 2013, including former Sligo Rovers winger John Dillon.

STEPHEN KENNY HAS signed former Sligo Rovers winger John Dillon as he begins to build his Dundalk squad for next season.

Dundalk confirmed the first signings of Kenny’s reign today with young Mervue United striker Patrick Hoban joining Dillon at Oriel Park.

Defender Eoghan Osbourne and midfielder John Mountney, both of whom helped the troubled Lilywhites dodge relegation last season, have also re-signed.

Kenny’s first off-season business follows the news that Derek Foran, the club’s player of the year in 2012, has returned to Dublin to join Shamrock Rovers.

Dillon, 24, left Sligo last month after playing a limited part in the Bit O’Red’s title winning campaign. The Liverpudlian winger moved to the Showgrounds in 2010 following a spell with Crewe Alexandra.

Hoban, 21, came up through Mervue’s underage structure before given a chance to impress in England with Bristol City in 2010/2011. He returned to Galway in July 2011 and was Mervue’s top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions last season.
