JOHN ALLEN WILL remain in charge of the Limerick senior hurlers for the 2013 season, it has been confirmed tonight.
TheScore.ie has learned that the former Cork All-Ireland winning manager has agreed to take the reins for another campaign and has confirmed this to Limerick county board officials.
Allen succeeded another ex-Cork All-Ireland winning boss Donal O’Grady as Limerick manager for the 2012 season. Limerick made progress in his debut year, blooding several young players at senior championship level despite suffering defeats in the Munster quarter-final against Tipperary and the All-Ireland quarter-final against Kilkenny.
In between Limerick collected championship victories in the qualifier series over Laois, Antrim and Clare. Their efforts to secure promotion from Division 1B of the National Hurling League fell short in the decider against Clare and they will be in the second tier again next spring where their main challengers are likely to be Dublin and Wexford.
