Klopp to return to Dortmund as Liverpool pitted against German side in quarter-finals

The draw for the last eight of the Europa League also produced a tasty Spanish derby.

IT WAS BOUND to happen wasn’t it?

After Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp earlier stated he was dreaming of a Europa League final against his former club Borussia Dortmund, the sides have been paired up in the last eight of the competition.

Klopp will head back to Dortmund with his Liverpool side on a high after they saw off bitter rivals Manchester United 3-1 on aggregate in the last 16.

Three-time champions Liverpool, who previously won the competition in 1973, 1976 and 2001, will travel to Dortmund for the first leg of the quarter on 7 April before hosting the Germans a week later.

Four-time winners Sevilla, seeking a third title in three years, face a Spanish derby against Athletic Bilbao.

Draw:

Sporting Braga (POR) v Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR)

Villarreal (ESP) v Sparta Prague (CZE)

Athletic Bilbao (ESP) v Sevilla (ESP)

Borussia Dortmund (GER) v Liverpool (ENG)

Quarter-finals to be played April 7 and 14.
