THIS PAST WEEKEND saw a number of ex-Liverpool players travel to Canon Crowley Park in West Cork to take on local side Drinagh Rangers.
Ronnie Whelan, Ray Houghton, Alan Kennedy, Gary Gillespie, John Wark, Jason McAteer and Phil Babb all featured in the Legends XI team while Cork City boss John Caulfield was also included.
The superstars were humbled by the plucky underdogs though and suffered some penalty shootout heartache.
There was also some time for recreational activities though and some of the Liverpool side took in the local culture of road bowling with varying degrees of success.

Jimmy Carter, who’s best-known for his time with Millwall and Arsenal rather than his short stint at Anfield, stepped up to the plate though, according to the man himself, one of his efforts nearly decapitated a spectator (the less said about the colour of Gillespie’s shorts in these pics the better).
