Manchester United target Atletico star Falcao

Spanish daily Marca reckon Alex Ferguson has already tabled a €55million bid for the Columbian striker.

PREMIER LEAGUE LEADERS Manchester United have reportedly offered up to €55million to lure Radamel Falcao to Old Trafford next season.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Alex Ferguson’s side have emerged as front-runners in the race sign to the star Atletico Madrid striker. Falcao is on course to record his best season in La Liga, having notched 22 goals in 27 league appearances this campaign.

The 2012 FIFA Ballon d’Or contender’s performances have also attracted attentions of former UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea, as well as domestic rivals Real Madrid.

Still, Spanish media suggests that United are in advanced negotiations with the Colombian, with Marca reporting ‘a down payment has reportedly been made’ and that Falcao is ‘just a step away from United’. Despite the 27-year-old’s impressive goal-to-game ratio Atletico have been less fortunate in staking a claim for silverware this season.

The 2011/12 UEFA Europa League winners were unable to defend their title after crashing out of this year’s competition in the round of 32. So far the Premier League leaders are yet to comment in response to the reports.
