A New Zealand punter has wagered an enormous sum on this year's Rugby World Cup

It’s rare you find an All Black fan this pessimistic.

NEW ZEALAND FANS have quite the reputation for being confident, but one Kiwi in particular is feeling especially pessimistic ahead of the Rugby World Cup.

The New Zealand Herald report that the Totalisator Agency Board (TAB) have received their largest ever bet against the All Blacks, after one punter has put $130,000 (€75,000) on his home nation not to win the tournament.

The gamble, which is the largest Rugby World Cup bet ever in the country, trumps the previous highest by $30,000, when two bets of $100,000 were placed on England to defeat Tonga and South Africa to beat Argentina at the 2007 tournament.

$100,000 is also the largest previous bet placed with the TAB on the All Blacks to lose either a game or a championship, after one punter lost out big-time on his tip for the Springboks to win the 201 Tri-Nations.

At odds of 11/20, the bet stands to return $71,500 in profit if it comes in.
