FOUR NFL PLAYERS received four-game suspensions Friday for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.
Atlanta Falcons cornerback Jalen Collins, Green Bay Packers cornerback Demetri Goodson, Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Aaron Colvin and Tennessee Titans wide receiver Andrew Turzilli were all suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2016 regular season.
All players will be allowed to participate in off-season and pre-season activities, including pre-season games.
“We are disappointed to hear the news regarding Jalen,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said in a statement. ”I have already spoken to Jalen about this, and I have no doubt this will be something that he will learn from.”
Collins was the 42nd overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft. He appeared in all 16 games as a rookie, but only started twice. He was expected to take on a bigger role this season.
Colvin was taken by the Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. He appeared in 15 of 16 games last year and posted 73 tackles, four sacks and seven pass break-ups.
He expressed his remorse over the suspension, but vowed to return better than ever.
“I made a mistake and I will take responsibility for it,” Colvin said in a statement. “I apologise to my family, the Jaguars’ organisation, especially my coaches and team-mates, as well as Jaguars fans who have been supportive of me since I was drafted here in 2014.
“I will grow from this. I will be a better man and player from this. I will not let this define me and I will overcome this.”
Goodson, a third-year player, has mainly served as a backup. He was selected by the Packers in the sixth round of the 2014 draft.
Turzilli went undrafted out of Rutgers, but was scooped up by the Titans in 2015. He caught two passes for 25 yards in three games during his rookie year.
