PHIL TAYLOR HAS become the second high-profile casualty in a matter of days at the PDC World Championship after a shock last-16 loss to Jelle Klaasen.
A day after world number one Michael van Gerwen was eliminated at Alexandra Palace, Taylor suffered a 4-3 loss to Dutchman Klaasen.
The 16-time world champion was given a lifeline in the last leg of the sixth set when Klaasen missed a match dart at double 18.
That appeared to be the moment Taylor needed as he broke early in the seventh set.
But Klaasen composed himself and found his form once again, this time taking advantage to win the set 4-2 and complete his victory.

Earlier, Peter Wright edged out Dave Chisnall in a rollercoaster clash with a 4-3 win.
The world number four showed great resilience to keep up with Chisnall’s early pace before pouncing late on in a match that included 23 180s.
Alan Norris found it much easier on his way to the quarter-finals, beating Mark Webster 4-1.
