LOIC REMY CELEBRATED his international recall with a brace as Newcastle United beat Cardiff City2-1.
The Frenchman scored twice in the space of eight first-half minutes, taking his tally to five goals in three games, and Newcastle held on for victory despite Peter Odemwingie scoring his first league goal for Cardiff in reply.
Newcastle leap six places in the table to 10th place, while Malky Mackay’s Cardiff slip one place to 12th.
Liverpool returned to the top of the table after a 3-1 home win over Crystal Palace, while Manchester City climbed to third by beating Everton.
With new-born son Benjamin in attendance, Luis Suarez broke the deadlock in the 14th minute.
