Riding ban rules Fallon out of Newmarket Classics

Jockey set to miss both the 2,000 and the 1,000 Guineas at the end of the month.

KIEREN FALLON IS in trouble with the authorities again after he failed to ride his horse to the line during racing at Kempton yesterday evening.

The Irish jockey was aboard 11/1 shot Sukhothai whom he eased up short of the line when it became apparent that he would not catch the eventual winner, Gower Rules, in the the Racing At skysports.com Handicap

However, Fallon’s horse was subsequently pipped on the line for second place, prompting stewards to hold an enquiry into the jockey’s conduct.

He was subsequently found guilty of not riding to a finish and hit with a ten-day riding ban which will come into force between April 27 and May 6, causing the 45-year-old to miss both the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket on April 30 and the following day’s 1,000 Guineas.

Fallon has won each of the Newmarket Classics on four occasions in the past, including a memorable double aboard Virginia Waters and Footstepsinthesand in 2005.
