Keane misses Premier League as he prepares for the MLS Cup final

Or, as Sky Sports are calling it, Beckham’s Last Game.

THE WREATHS HAVE been ordered and a crane may, or may not, be hired to hoist David Beckham’s number 23 jersey into the Home Depot Centre rafters.

While American soccer supporters gear up for the MLS Cup Final between LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo on Sunday, Sky Sports have landed to cover an even larger event.

The former Manchester United and England midfielder will make his final appearance for LA and Sky have dubbed the occasion Beckham’s Last Game, complete with golden tint and fluttering American flag.

The broadcasting giants have sent a reporting team to Los Angeles for the week to capture what will only be a joyous farewell if Beckham and his teammates can secure the title.

Sky caught up with Beckham’s Galaxy colleague Robbie Keane and discussed the prospect of his returning to the Premier League during the January transfer window.

Keane signed up with Aston Villa for two months last season and scored three times in six games.

“It’s not something that I’ve really sat down and thought about too much,” he admitted.

“Of course, I do miss the Premier League and watch the games every week on Fox Soccer. I do miss it, but who knows.”

Long and winding goodbye

The Irish captain believes Beckham, 37, can prolong his playing career for another season or three.

“His ability on the ball is the best I have seen.” Keane told Sky Sports News.

"His passing is ridiculous. He still has a few years left in him. He still has that hunger and drive.

"He's been in England for a long time, and won the Premier League, so whether he wants to go somewhere else, and win the league there, I'm not too sure."

MLS commisioner Don Garber declared in October that Frank Lampard, who is set to leave Chelsea, would be 'more than welcome' by any of the league's to sides.

"Frank is obviously a great player." Keane commented, named yesterday on the MLS team of the year.

"He's proven over the years to be a top professional at Chelsea and we certainly need players like Frank."
