The Morning Score: Monday

Schwartzel capitalises on McIlroy’s capitulation, Cork’s footballers book a final date with Dublin, and Leinster ready themselves for a Gallic test in the Heineken Cup semis.

1. #MASTERS South African Charl Schwartzel is the US Masters champion for 2011 after he recorded a final round of 66 to take the fabled green jacket with a score of -14.

It was an afternoon to forget for Rory McIlroy, however, who led up until the tournament’s 63rd hole before dropping six shots in the space of three holes. He eventually finished in a tie for 15th on -4 after shooting a round of 80.

2. #NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE Cork will join Dublin in the Division One final of the Allianz National Football League after they recorded a 2-15 to 1-12 victory over Armagh at Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday.

Despite beating Mayo by 1-18 to 2-13, Monaghan have been relegated to Division Two where they will be joined by Galway next season after the Tribesmen could only record a draw against Dublin.

3. #HEINEKEN CUP Leinster’s reward for Saturday’s victory against the Leicester Tigers will be a home semi-final against Toulouse on either April 30 or May 1. Despite leading 17-0 at half-time, the French side needed extra-time to overcome domestic rivals Biarritz yesterday.

The other semi-final will see the Northampton Saints take on Perpignan.

4. #REF JUSTICE Tyrone senior football manager Mickey Harte has lashed out against refereeing inconsistency after his side failed to win promotion to Division One yesterday afternoon.

Harte’s post-match comments suggested that referees were more concerned with their assessors in the stands rather than the action on the field.

5. #SAVE How about this for a fine double-save to get your Monday morning started? Werder Bremen were leading 1-0 against Eintracht Frankfurt when keeper Tim Weise pulled off this great stop to keep them in front.

Weise was eventually beaten, however, as Frankfurt managed to secure a 1-1 draw.
