The Morning Score: Monday

Tiger’s on the prowl again, one Munster man is ruled out of the upcoming Heinken Cup clashes and all the rest of the sports news you need to know.

1. #COMEBACK Tiger Woods is a winner again – over two years since his last victory.

The former world No 1  birdied his last two holes last night, making a six-foot putt on the 18th, to win the Chevron World Challenge – the tournament he hosts – by one shot over former Masters champion Zach Johnson.

Woods closed with a 3-under 69. Here’s the detail.

2. #GOLF Earlier, Rory McIlroy had a good victory of his own. The Holywood man chipped in from a greenside bunker to complete a flawless five-under-par 65, enough for an aggregate total of 12-under-par and a two-shot victory over France’s Grégory Havret in Hong Kong.

3. #GAA The Munster Club Football Championship title went the way of Kerry’s Dr Crokes yesterday afternoon after a goal-filled clash with UCC in Killarney.

The hurling title, meanwhile, was won by Limerick side Na Piarsaigh. The clinched their provincial final replay with Crusheen of Clare, dramatically overhauling a three-point deficit mid-way through the second half to win the encounter by an impressive seven points, 1-13 to 0-9.

4. #PREMIER LEAGUE Martin O’Neill watched from the stands as his new club let a one-goal lead slip against Wolves at Molineux.

Sunderland ultimately lost out 2-1 to Mick McCarthy’s side. Earlier, Stoke earned a much-needed win as they beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park.

5. #SNOOKER Ronnie O’Sullivan was happy with his form after beating Steve Davis 6-1 to reach the last 16 of the UK Championship yesterday.

6. #RUGBY Munster man Doug Howlett will have a scan and see a specialist early this week to determine the exact nature of the injury he sustained against Ospreys on Saturday.

The province say that an initial examination suggest he’s damaged his Achilles tendon and he has definitely been ruled out of Munster’s upcoming back-to-back HeinekenCup matches against Scarlets.
