The Morning Score: Wednesday

We reflect on a night at the Aviva, Fermanagh’s footballing turmoil continues, and freestyler Indi Cowie struts her stuff.

1. #FAI Ireland were beaten by the odd goal in five at Lansdowne Rd last night. Catch out how the action unfolded.

2. #TURMOIL The dispute currently engulfing the Fermanagh senior football squad looks set to take another turn this evening. The GAA and GPA issued a joint statement yesterday, indicating that a further meeting would take place later on this evening “to address relevant matters concerning the county’s senior football team.”

Since the turn of the year, ten players have indicated that they are unwilling to play under current manager John O’Neill.

3. #JOB HUNT Yesterday, reports emerged that former Ireland coach Eddie O’Sullivan may be in line to take over at Edinburgh when his current contract in America expires.

O’Sullivan’s candidacy received a timely boost yesterday evening when one of the main contenders for the job, Edinburgh’s interim coach Nick Scrivener, revealed that he will be returning home to Australia at the end of the season.

4. #CWC Sri Lanka reached the World Cup final after holding their nerve to beat a spirited New Zealand by five wickets. The Black Caps looked set for a competitive score in Colombo, but they collapsed from 192-4 to 217 all out.

The tournament’s second semi-final takes place this morning when hosts India take on Pakistan in Mohali.

5. #BAD BOYS A spokesman for Northampton Saints indicated yesterday that the club will conducting its own investigation into the arrest of full-back Ben Foden in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to reports by the Daily Telegraph, “Foden is alleged to have kicked and punched at a vehicle following a row with a taxi driver” while the 23-year-old male arrested with him “is said to have taken the driver’s keys.”
