1. #TRAGEDY Following the tragic death of team-mate Wouter Weylandt on Monday, the Leopard Trek cycling team have taken the decision to withdraw from the remainder of this year’s Giro d’Italia.

“We have a lot of respect for the Giro d’Italia and for cycling, but we simply cannot continue racing given the circumstances,” said team captain Fabian Wegmann.

2. #NATIONS CUP Northern Irish football supporters are planning to boycott the country’s forthcoming Carling Nations Cup games against the Republic of Ireland and Wales in protest at travel restrictions which have been imposed.

The decision to require all of the team’s fans to travel on official buses, costing £30, was taken following a number of minor incidents during the first round of games in February.

3. #GAME TIME The Leinster Council is expected to approve a request from the Offaly County Board to bring forward the start time of the county’s Leinster SFC quarter-final against Wexford in order to avoid a clash with the Champions League Final.

4. #GLORY DAYS A Peter Crouch own goal was enough to give Manchester City a 1-0 win at home to Tottenham last night, guaranteeing the Eastlands outfit a fourth-place finish and a place in next season’s Champions League.
