Three for the price of one: FAI offers Nations Cup freebies to fans

Ticket holders offered free admission to Wales’ matches against Northern Ireland and Scotland in Dublin next week.

FOOTBALL FANS WHO purchase tickets for the Republic of Ireland’s Carling Nations Cup tie against Northern Ireland next Tuesday will be entitled to free admission to two further games, the FAI announced this evening.

In an attempt to boost flagging attendance figures, the Association have decided to allow ticket holders free entrance to both the Wales v Scotland (Wednesday 25th) and Northern Ireland v Wales (Friday 27th) matches.

With ticket prices for the game against Northern Ireland game ranging between €30 and €75, soccer-mad fans could now conceivably treat themselves to three international games in the space of four days for as little as €10 per match.

In order to avail of the offer, Republic of Ireland supporters have been asked to keep their tickets from the match on 24 May in order to gain free admission to the other two fixtures.

Attendance figures for the tournament’s opening round of games in March were underwhelming with only 19,783 witnessing Ireland’s 3-0 victory over Wales while a mere 18,742 were present for Scotland’s 3-0 win against Northern Ireland the following month.
