Fury-Klitschko rematch confirmed for this summer

The heavyweights will meet again in Manchester on 9 July.

TYSON FURY AND Wladimir Klitschko will return to the ring in an eagerly-awaited world heavyweight title rematch in the champion’s home city of Manchester on July 9, the Brit’s trainer revealed this morning.

Fury pulled off a big upset by dethroning Klitschko in Dusseldorf to clinch the WBA Super, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles in November last year.

Veteran Ukrainian Klitschko exercised his right to a rematch, but the pair could not agree on a date and venue for the fight.

But Peter Fury, the champion’s trainer and uncle, confirmed on Friday that his nephew – who was stripped of the IBF title in December – will have home advantage when he defends his title for the first time.
