VIDEO: David Platt rolls back the years to score with stunning bicycle kick

The former Arsenal and Sampdoria man impressed the heck out of Sergio Aguero.

ROBERTO MANCINI HAS been bemoaning his team’s lack of summer signings recently but perhaps the answer to Manchester City’s quest for European glory lies with a man that regularly had James Richardson over for gelato when he was wowing Italians on a weekly basis.

David Platt, a player dismissed from Manchester United by Ron Atkinson as a scrawny youth, went on to reasonable achievements at Aston Villa then jetted off to Italy.

He briefly became the world’s most expensively transferred player (we are pretty sure Zlatan Ibrahimovic has copper-fastened this record for the foresseable future).

He is now the first team coach at Manchester City but that has not hindered ‘Platty’ from taking part in pre-season training seasons.

It was a finish that was reminiscent of the poise he showed at Italia ’90 to help England defeat Belgium.

Perhaps Sheikh Mansour does not need to open the war-chest for Robin van Persie just yet.
