Owen Elding receives a first call-up for the U21s.

OWEN ELDING HAS been included in the Ireland U21 squad for the first time ahead of their crucial Euro U21 play-offs against Finland this month.

Jim Crawford announced his 23-player squad on Thursday, as Ireland look to qualify for their first-ever U21 Euros, playing away on 13 November before returning for the second leg at Turners Cross on the 17th.

Elding has scored seven goals for the Hibernian since joining in January from Sligo Rovers, and earned his first cap for Ireland’s senior team against Kosovo in the last international window.

Defender Matteo Egan has also been called up to the U21 squad for the first time based on his form for Italian Serie B outfit Empoli.
